Things we love

    • Enjoy sitting in one of the terrazas (bars with tables outside, literally on the street) in Madrid, eating tapas ( traditional dishes served in small portion), drinking a "cana" (glass of draft beer) and people watch. It's so fun and relaxing!
    • Paint the town red in Madrid clubs where the party usually begins at 11 pm and lasts until 5 am or 6 am the next morning.
    • Valencia is known for its orange groves. After a long day of sightseeing, refresh yourself with an order of Agua de Valencia -- a cocktail made from gin, vodka, cava (Spanish champagne), sugar and freshly squeezed orange juice -- at a sidewalk café.
    • Enjoy shopping at the Mercado Central (Central Market) in Valencia, one of the oldest food markets in Europe. Adorned with Valencian-style mosaics, you will find the atmosphere here a lot different than any local supermarket.
    • Taste heaven and have your dessert at the Bubo cake shop in Barcelona where their cakes and pastries are just out of this world!

Things to do

    • PARTY. Madrid is well known to have one of the liveliest nightlife in the world. Interested ? Go to Plaza Mayor or nearby Puerta  del Sol, where it is customary to go from one tavern to another,  to sample the wine in each along with a selection of tapas (a wide variety of appetizers or snacks in Spanish cuisine).
    • SIESTA. Taking siestas (or midday nap) is part of Spanish tradition. So don't be surprised if you will find shops and businesses closed from approximately 2pm until 5pm and bars and restaurants closed from about 4pm until 8 or 9pm.
    • EAT. Paella Valenciana (a mixture of rice, seafood, meat and vegetables flavored with saffron) is Spain's most famous dish. Don't pass out the chance to have a taste as you visit Valencia, birthplace of this popular dish.
    • VIEW. The people of Valencia claim that the chalice known as the Santo Caliz or The Holy Grail (the cup used by Jesus in the Last Supper) lie in the Cathedral of Valencia. This claim is also featured by Dan Brown, author of the book The Da Vinci Code.
    • EXPLORE. Have a feel of Barcelona, as you go around Las Ramblas, a series of narrow streets and alleys bedecked with restaurants, nightclubs and a vibrant pedestrian market.
