Things we love

    • Capture Madrid's joie de vivre and visit some mesones (little bars and restaurants built in the basement of ancient houses) where you can drink some wine or sangria, listen to some live flamenco music and eat traditional dishes served in small portions called tapas.
    • Stroll along the Calle de las Flores near the Mezquita in Cordoba - a beautiful, narrow street full of flowers with a wonderful tiny square at the end amid perfect views of the Mezquita's Tower framed by the buildings lining the street.
    • Enjoy shopping at the Mercado Central (Central Market) in Valencia, one of the oldest food markets in Europe. Adorned with Valencian-style mosaics, you will find the atmosphere here a lot different than any local supermarket.
    • Wander along the luxuriant and unique garden of Generalife in Granada, one of the oldest surviving Moorish gardens, a place likened to the Garden of Eden.
    • Unwind and relax at the Parque de Maria Luisa in Seville, a green park bedecked with several ceramic tiled benches, fountains, pools, statues and monuments.

In addition, a couple of smaller museums are also in the neighborhood and may be worth visiting as well.

    • PHOTO OP. The view from Parc de Montjuic in Barcelona is just phenomenal and affords a spectacular photo opportunity of the city and the Mediterranean Sea below.
    • SIESTA. Taking siestas (or midday nap) is part of Spanish tradition. So don't be surprised if you will find shops and businesses closed from approximately 2pm until 5pm and bars and restaurants closed from about 4pm until 8 or 9pm.
