Visit Florence, often referred to as the art capital of Italy. A highlight is the magnificent east door of the Baptistry—the gilded bronze Gates of Paradise doors depicting scenes from the Old Testament. Of course, no traveler to Europe should miss the distinct architecture of Paris, and on this tour, you’ll have plenty of time to explore the city’s famous architectural sites. Itinerary

    DAY 1     ARRIVE IN LONDON, ENGLAND
    Check into your hotel. In the afternoon, you may want to start exploring the lively British capital. Uniformed hosts are available to help you make the most of your stay.
     
    DAY 2     LONDON
    The whole day is free to take advantage of our rich program of optional activities. How about a fascinating tour of London's landmarks, a visit to the Tower of London with the lavish Crown Jewels, or an excursion to Windsor Castle? Tonight, a leisurely cruise on the Thames River would be fun! (B)
     
    DAY 3     LONDON-BRUSSELS, BELGIUM 
    Depart London early this morning and head out into the lush countryside to the English Channel port, where you board a FERRY bound for the Continent. Upon arrival, your Tour Director and luxury motorcoach meet you, and you're off across Belgium to Brussels. (B)
     
    DAY 4     BRUSSELS-TRIER, GERMANY- STRASBOURG AREA, FRANCE 
    Cross the German border and stop for an included walking tour in ancient Trier, founded by the Celts in the late 4th century BC. Later, travel through the fabled Black Forest, known for its cuckoo clocks, wood carving, delectable Black Forest Cake, and traditional farmhouses with sweeping, half-hipped roofs. Cross into France to arrive in Strasbourg for an overnight. (B,D)
     
    DAY 5     STRASBOURG AREA-LUCERNE AREA, SWITZERLAND
    On your included walking tour in Strasbourg, seat of the European Parliament, see the monumental gothic cathedral with its ancient murals, stained-glass windows, and fascinating astronomical clock; experience the unique Franco-German culture; and explore the city's historic heart in the magical La Petite France district. Later, enter Switzerland and head towards the majestic Alps before stopping in Lucerne. Visit the LION MONUMENT, a masterful stone sculpture honouring Louis XVI's heroic Swiss Guard, and CHAPEL BRIDGE, Europe's oldest covered bridge, dating back to 1333. (B)
     
    DAY 6     LUCERNE AREA-LUGANO- MILAN, ITALY 
    More wonderful alpine scenery awaits as you drive into the mountains surrounding massive St. Gotthard. Pass through its great tunnel, then begin your scenic descent into the warmth and sunshine of Canton Ticino. Take a break in lovely Lugano and stroll along its lakeside promenade. On to vibrant Milan, Italy's fashion capital. (B,D)
     
    DAY 7     MILAN-VENICE AREA
    Leave Milan and cross the flat Po River plain to the Venice area. Here, you'll board your private MOTORBOAT for incredible views of the Bridge of Sighs, Doges' Palace, and monumental ST. MARK'S SQUARE. Later, visit a GLASSBLOWING WORKSHOP to watch a skilled craftsman at work. Don't miss out on an optional gondola serenade that glides through century-old canals. (B,D)
     
    DAY 8     VENICE AREA-ASSISI-ROME 
    An interesting drive southward, through the gentle Umbrian hills to medieval Assisi, where St. Francis was born in 1182. Visit the world-famous BASILICA with its beautiful frescoes by Giotto, then head for Rome. (B)
     
    DAY 9     ROME
    Today's sightseeing of the "Eternal City" with a Local Guide features St. Peter's Square, and includes an inside visit of the COLOSSEUM and the ROMAN FORUM. (B)
     
    DAY 10     ROME-FLORENCE- MONTECATINI
    Say "Arrivederci, Roma" as you drive northwards through lovely Tuscan countryside to reach Florence. On the included walking tour with a Local Guide, discover the landmarks of this Renaissance city, like Piazza Signoria with the Loggia dei Lanzi, Palazzo Vecchio, and the breathtaking cathedral on Piazza del Duomo. Overnight in the spa town of Montecatini. (B)
     
    DAY 11     MONTECATINI-PISA-EZE, FRANCE-FRENCH RIVIERA 
    Stop in Pisa to see the Leaning Tower and the SQUARE OF MIRACLES. Bypassing the great port of Genoa, head northwest, getting glimpses of the Italian and French Rivieras. Visit one of the famous PERFUME FACTORIES in Eze before reaching your destination on the lovely French Riviera. (B)
     
    DAY 12     FRENCH RIVIERA-AIX-ENPROVENCE- LYON AREA 
    Leave the French Riviera this morning and head inland, crossing sun-drenched Provence. Take in the Mediterranean atmosphere of Aix-en- Provence, then travel through the famous wine-producing area of the Rhone Valley. Overnight in the Lyon area. (B,D)
     
    DAY 13     LYON AREA-BEAUNE-PARIS 
    Enjoy vistas of famous Burgundy vineyards on the way to Beaune, famous for wines such as Chambertin and Nuits-Saint-Georges. Its Hotel-Dieu with its colourful roof is one of the oldest hospitals in Europe. Head for the exciting city of Paris. Time to enjoy an optional cabaret show. (B)
     
    DAY 14     PARIS 
    One full day to explore the city that's known throughout the world for its fashion, art and museums, delicious food, and joie de vivre. Included sightseeing with a local expert shows off many of the best-known Parisian sites: La Sorbonne, Arc de Triomphe, Opera, Madeleine, the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre Pyramid, the Invalides, and Champs Elysees. Optional excursions are also available to the Palace and Gardens of Versailles and, to celebrate the success of your tour, a French farewell dinner might be just the ticket. (B)
     
    DAY 15     PARIS 
    Your holiday ends with breakfast this morning. (B)

Things to do

    • REMINISCE. Take a trip back in time as you stroll through the 800 year old city center of Innsbruck. Survey the elegant combination of Gothic and Baroque architecture surrounded by the peaks of the Nordkette mountains. A wonderful sight to behold!
    • RIDE. Explore the "City of Water" the Venitian way, take a boat ride to view its famous landmarks such as the Bridge of Sighs and Dodges Palace to end at St. Mark's Square, the symbolic heart of Venice.
    • PRAY. Say a prayer at the beautiful Basilica of St. Francis in Assisi, a UNESCO World Heritage site and considered as an ensemble of masterpieces of human creative genius.
    • MARVEL. Although horrified at the thought that gladiatorial contests and public spectacles are held at the Colosseum in Rome, this magnificent edifice is undoubtedly one of the most impressive structures in the world. No wonder it's included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites and the New 7 Wonders of the World.
